Effects

Corel Vector provides a variety of raster effects that you can use to transform your images.

The Effects panel is located at the bottom of the Inspector panel.

Note: You can apply an effect to an object, a group of objects, or a layer.

You can access the four most popular effects directly from the Effects panel. Simply select an object and then click one of the effects to apply it.

Alternatively, the Plus (+) icon opposite the effect label on the top-right of the Effects Panel also provides access to the other effects.

The Effects pop-up menu contains more than 35 effects (2) arranged into six different categories (1):

Modifying effects

Effect attributes

After you apply an effect, you can modify some of its attributes from the interface under the Effects panel.

Every effect has its own unique set of attributes, which you can adjust by using sliders, text fields, color pickers, and radio buttons.

Tip: When you finish editing an effect, you can collapse its panel by clicking on the Effects label or the arrow icon next to it. This helps keep your interface panels neat and tidy.

Deleting effects

To delete an applied effect, simply hover over it and then click the Trashcan icon that appears.

Toggling the visibility of the effect

You can also toggle the visibility of an applied effect by hovering over it, and clicking the eye icon.

When you are ready to bring it back, simply click the eye icon again.

Scope of the effect

By default, the effect is applied to the whole object. You can choose whether to apply it to the fill, border, or the whole element on the right-click context menu.

In this right-click context menu, it’s also possible to copy the effect and paste it on the same or on other elements on the canvas.

Stack effects

You can add unlimited effects on any object. For some effects, changing the stacking order influences the appearance of the final result. For example, changing the order of multiple shadows:

To rearrange effects:

  1. Hover over the effect name, then click and drag the indicator (vertical dots that are shown) up or down.
    The red line will appear to show you where the effect will drop.
  2. Release the mouse.

To quickly delete an effect:

  • Drag the effect outside to the Inspector panel until the Trashcan icon appears, and then release the mouse.
